What’s New This Week

Here’s hoping that everyone successfully made the start of the new school year!   I’ve certainly seen a difference in the traffic on the lake (much less) as well as the road (ugh – need I say more?)! Here’s my news from the river this week….

“The Book!”

A Valentine for Miranda has been “launched” and I’m very happy about that.  The channels to market are gradually taking shape and that is exciting!  (Yes, it is still available for order on Amazon.com or you can email me directly and I’ll see to it that a copy makes it your way.).  Be sure to put up a review on Amazon!  I even made my very first deposit although I really wanted to just frame the money and look at it instead!  Thanks for all the wonderful comments back about the story and especially the illustrations & cover design! (Nancy & Cotton liked that!)

If you know of any organizations that support our military families, please let me know.  We are working with 2 now trying to find a way to get the book to children who have parents who are deployed.   We’re also working on our first school fundraiser.  If you think you’re school might be interested, let me know!

“The Next Book”

Yes, Virginia, there is indeed another book in the works.  Nancy and I met this week to discuss the illustrations.  (BTW… Congratulations to Nancy and her husband, Justin, on celebrating their first anniversary!)   The new book will be entitled A Home for Blackie. The title is enough of a teaser for now.  I’ll tell you more about the story line closer to it’s publication!   I’m already researching for book 3 which will be a little different than these first
“A Woman’s Heart”

In sharing with my mother about the articles that I’m writing for the Empowher magazine, I made a startling discovery.  My grandmother had heart disease!  In fact, she suffered several minor heart attacks.  Grandmother lived to be almost 90 years old and while I knew she had several health conditions, I was never aware that she also had heart disease.   Why do I share this information?  Because you can never assume that you know all of your risk factors.  If you’ve not already done so, ASK questions!   With heart disease being the number 1 killer in the US, it’s too important a topic not to address.

Hey and for all you men out there, just because the title of the article says “A Woman’s Heart” does not mean that you will not find information relevant to you!  Men should be sure to read “How Round is Too Round!”

Music

Music is ALWAYS good… We’re still at Ross’ Old Austin Café each Thursday night from 7-9 hosting a songwriter circle.  You never know who will show up!   We also went to Luckenbach last week and participated in an event where we broke the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest number of guitar players at one time in one place.  The prior record was set by the Germans with 1800 guitar players.  Being Texas, we topped it with over 2000 guitar players!  What was the song?  What else could it be but “Luckenbach, Texas!”  J

Peace my friends…. Mary Kyle
